Where can you get the best corn burritoes in Ventura?

My House!

My wonderful hubby made dinner tonight, his specialty, corn burritos, he even makes his own red sauce that is so yummy.
There is something so nice about not having to come up with dinner, when someone else takes care of it, such a treat. Thank you my love.
I have this condition it is called being pregnant, which I love it is awesome BUT I love to eat and my stomach is crammed way up next to my lungs so I haven't felt hungry in awhile now. But I love food and eat as if my stomach is not squished and then I feel awful and full and can't breathe because my full squished stomach is in turn squishing my lungs. I need to learn to eat small meals, I tell myself this even when my insides are normal, but do I listen NO. Am I going to start now? Probably not but it is something that I think about.
blurry but you get the point

So I am 37 weeks and I can't believe it. I can tell junebug is running out of room because her movements are telling me so. I feel like in the last two days I have grown a lot! Junebug is going to be here soon, so soon and I know that at that moment it will feel like I just found out that I was pregnant but at this moment if feels like forever.

Grumpy

grumpy or not this picture makes me smile

Not a very good heading but I am and I can't snap out of it. Look for the source right? Some say you have the control to change your moods and I really want to believe that but doing it is a lot harder than just saying "snap out of it". So tomorrow I am going to snap out of it and just think good happy fun thoughts and see how it works. I have no real reason to be grumpy I love my life I love my family I love being pregnant I love that spring is in the air. I love that we changed dakota's gymnastics's class and she loves it and her teacher is awesome! I love that even though randy lost his job we are going to be okay because we are a family and because we have family. I love my essie dog, she is just a sweet lover girl who drives me crazy because she barks at any noise she hears or thinks she hears. This is kind of weird but my pregger belly is amazing to me not only because there is a baby in there but also because my skin is a little bit translucent and I can see a network of my veins and the human body just amazes me. I love what a healthy eater dakota is she may like her dessert but she also eats her spinach and bell peppers, nuts and hummus, carrots and celery and broccoli, sprouted peanuts and pineapple and melon and blueberries and I just smile knowing she is getting such good healthy food. I love that she knows that she is not supposed to have high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated and she asks. I love that randy wants to take care of this family and that it is important to him. I love knowing that no matter what he will. I love my parents, I love the comfort and ease there is being around them and while the thought of moving in with a person's parents might scare some to death I would be totally okay with it because at this point my parents are people I truly enjoy being around. I love my brother derek and his wife tisha, they are funny and talented and serious and caring and smart again I love being around them and I feel so lucky to say that. My life is filled with so many wonderful people and I feel blessed and loved and supported all the time even when I am a grumpy pants.

Hot!

dakota last november!

So it is november in ventura and we played in the pool today.

When is this heat going to be gone. I mean it is great fun and all but really how about 60 degrees shoot 65. At least it is starting to cool down from the weekend, we have had the pool out since friday I believe. My friend Dawn in Nova Scotia is hopefully sending some cool weather and moisture. I will be waiting.
Really it was a great day we started the day with a walk down at the beach with Aubrei and Maya, Aubrei when we were just about done jumped in the ocean and I kick myself for not joining her but I was wearing my pants and the thought of them being wet and hanging on me stopped me, silly really, but it was great to see her just jump right in. Then we headed off to arroyo verde park to meet up with some friends for some nice play time. Which it was until dakota lost it. Sweet girl has started yelling at me when she is frustrated, at the top of her lungs yelling at me. So we promptly left because that just doesn't fly. But it gets me thinking about how much emotion she has going on inside to yell like that and how do I want to continue to handle it. Because first off it is just not okay, yelling at anyone when she is frustrated is not the way and not only is it not the right way but it is the wrong way. But she is in the moment of pure frustration and not sure how to deal with all that and at this point unsure what to do with it. Do you ever wonder if we moms of this generation over think things? HA! Anyway I want to try to help her find a better way of expressing all the emotion. Open to suggestions.... I do know that I have to be the example and I am not a yeller but I am far from perfect when I get upset so I think I will start there, what do I look like to her in the moments where I have lost patience???

On the drive home she was very sad and very sorry and told me she was sorry and that she loved me and then of course I feel bad for being upset with this beautiful, tender, sweet LITTLE girl who is still learning all the time.

The rest of our day was great as they all are really. really

This is what my sweet girl fell asleep with last night not a doll, nor a teddy bear, soft blanket no

a card! silly girl. thanks titi.

A Great Day!

still waking up!

So my dad and I drove down to ucla today to see his surgeon. My dad has this spot on his chin that is not healing and this is back from his surgery in january and now there is a "pocket" that developed. So off he and I went to see his surgeon and get his opinion about the infection. But the great news is when he looked in my dads mouth he was floored by the shrinkage of the tumor, he couldn't even see it. YYYYYYaaaaaaayyyyy. We knew that dads body responded well to the last course of treatment but to have his surgeon really look in there and say wow was just really really awesome. As for the chin infection we are going to see if this loose tooth was causing it (they pulled the tooth today) and if not dad has to have another small surgery, open up that area replace the metal plate there realign the bone and that should end that road bump. It was just really great.

sad girl, bad mom!

Dakota had swimming today and I think we are going in the wrong direction and I am torn what to do about it. She gets cold about five minutes into class and then shuts down and wants to get out. So my dilemma is I want her to understand that a) this is a class we paid for and she can't just quit b) she can't shut down because if she would listen to me or her teacher and start moving around and having fun she would warm up but she won't listen to that logic. But then the other part of me wants to be compassionate and say well if you don't like it we don't have to do it (which we wont if this continues, we won't sign up for the next round). I also think I don't want her to start feeling negatively about water because of this because right now she loves the water. So I am torn on what will be best for her what lessons are the most important in the situation. And my first reaction to that thought is being compassionate. So she got out and we hung out until the end of class. But I told her thursday she has to give it a try and listen to me and her teacher, right when she gets in she needs to start moving and kicking, we shall see how that talk internalized for her.
After dinner tonight me dakota and randy got into the jacuzzi and there was some very interesting humming bird action going on over our heads. I think there were three and it seemed to me that two of them had "possession"of this bush we have in our back yard. But the third one kept coming to drink and then it would get chased away. This went on the whole time we were in the jacuzzi and then because I am blog crazy I dried off and went back out to see if they were still up to there games and to see if i could get any photos.....

keeping watch for the intruder

can you see all three?

Ode to the Cookie and Sword Fighting?

I say where is the dough from whist this came??

I made cookies tonight and I love cookie dough. I love cookie dough more than I like warm baked cookies. Chocolate chip cookie dough is my favorite or really any dough with both brown and white sugar butter flour eggs and I say yummy. My friend leslie and pretty much her whole family can attest to my love of cookie dough. While I have not been over to see them in awhile I typically make a b-line to their freezer because always there are frozen balls of goodness. My daughter is no different I know the whole raw egg thing should be of concern but don't we pasteurize everything these days. I have been eating cookie dough my whole life and look at me I am mostly okay.
So an interesting thing happened today and it is my fault. Dakota and Marie

Who us?
decided to sword fight today! And I was watching them and they were being good just using their 'swords' and not hitting each other but still these little girlies sword fighting and then I heard the words I am Jack Sparrow and I am Peter Pan come out of their mouths aha! I must confess my three year old has watched pirates of the Caribbean. A couple months back there was a pirate festival down at the harbor, we went dakota had a blast so randy and I thought why not. And honestly I think there are much worse things that we could have let her watch but still probably not the best decision we have ever made. So any who Dakota and Marie were in the midst of their sword fight and I was at a loss of what to do. And it was because they were girls. I was thinking in my head I have seen boys their age do the sword and gun games and I have heard conversations about the pros and the cons of such games so do the same rules apply for the girls? I mean this is still the conversation going on in my head I have no concrete feelings on the subject but I do have mixed feelings about it. I kept a close eye on them and they played very well with their 'swords'. I know that I was on the verge of give me a reason to make you put this game to an end but it didn't happen. So yes on to more adventures tomorrow.
